Our Centre
Motto: Amor Sapiontian Alit - Nitgħallem bl- imħabba
Welcome to Helen Keller Resource Centre. Our Centre caters for PMLD students of secondary school age, between the ages of 12 and 16 and young adults between 16 and 22 years. Our students have profound and multiple learning disabilities and follow a curriculum that is based on the national curriculum but is adapted to their needs.
The centre is furnished with facilities which cater for our students’ needs and include a Multisensory Room, a Sensory Motor Studio, a Gym , a Jacuzzi and an ICT Lab. Students at our centre also benefit from weekly speech therapy and physiotherapy sessions. Two nurses are in attendance on a daily basis. We also have visits by the ACTU.
The Centre was setup in 1992 as a school for students with visually and hearing impairment, as well as for deaf-blind students. With the introduction of the Inclusive Policy most students are now supported in mainstream education. Resource centres also support the inclusion of students in the mainstream.
